Outtech, an industry leader in sales and marketing, proudly announces the retirement of Jay Scholes, the company’s founder and a visionary leader whose dedication has been pivotal to its growth and achievements.
After over 45 years of dedicated service to the outdoor industry, Jay Scholes has decided to step down from his position, marking the conclusion of an impressive career characterized by innovation, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Under Jay’s guidance, Outtech and Legacy1846 have reached significant milestones, from launching new product categories to forging groundbreaking partnerships.
“Jay Scholes has been a cornerstone of our organizations, and his contributions have left an indelible mark on our team and the industry as a whole,” said Ron Rette, Co-Founder of Outtech. “His vision and leadership have been nothing short of extraordinary, and we are deeply grateful for the legacy he leaves behind.”
In 1989, Jay Scholes, along with partners Ron Rette and “Rocket” Rod Swanson, founded Outtech with the vision of revolutionizing sales representation in the outdoor industry. Their approach emphasized exceptional customer service, innovative products, and a shared passion for the outdoors. Over the past 35 years, Outtech has continually grown and diversified, including the addition of Quickfire, the relaunch of Trophyline, the creation of Redline Bowhunting, and the acquisition of The Sports Products Group. It remains a point of pride that Jay, Ron, and Rocket have remained partners throughout these years. Additionally, their first employee, John Seliga, is still with the team today as the President of Outtech.
Reflecting on his retirement, Jay stated, “It has been an incredible journey working with such talented individuals and contributing to an industry I deeply care about. While it is bittersweet to step away, I am confident that Outtech and Legacy1846 are poised for continued success.”
As Jay transitions into this new chapter of life, he looks forward to spending more time with family, exploring personal passions, and, perhaps, even learning how to relax.
Under the leadership of Legacy1846 CEO, Andrew Sibble, the team at Outtech remains committed to honoring Jay’s legacy by driving innovation and excellence forward.
